Unlocking the Benefits of Seller Leasebacks: A Guide for Home Sellers
Filed under: Temecula Real Estate
Are you selling your home, but you don’t know where you are going to go or how long it’s going to take to find a new place? In today’s video, I want to talk about seller leasebacks. This is an option you can use to stay in the home a little longer, even after the sale goes through.
Why Seller Leasebacks Can Be Beneficial
In our Realtor forms, we have a standard form that can be used to negotiate for a seller to remain in a house after the close of escrow. This process gives the seller a few benefits:
- You will have cash in hand, and still have a place to live for a little while as you are trying to find a replacement home. This gives you time to make an offer and close on the house you want to buy, helping to reduce the risk of needing to move twice and stay somewhere temporarily in between.
- Even if you find a replacement home while in escrow on the home you are selling, you may need some transition time. For example, it’s nice to have extra time if you need to make repairs on the new house. You just might need a little leeway when transferring from home to the next.
A seller leaseback is the proper way to do that, and we can negotiate all of this upfront before the buyer and seller go under contract and into escrow.
