New CA BRBC Realtor Buyer Contract – NAR Got Sued
Filed under: Real Estate Market
The National Association of Realtors got sued! Today, we’re diving into this topic so that you can understand what is going on in the real estate industry.
Here’s what is happening: The National Association of Realtors got sued by the Department of Justice in the realm of disclosure of commission – specifically for buyer’s agents. The headlines are saying things like: buyers are ultimately responsible for their own buyer’s agent commission.
Here’s What You Need to Know
What you may not have heard is that there are many ways to go about this. Some buyers simply don’t have (or may be unwilling) to pay the commission. So, as part of the negotiations, the seller is asked to pay the commission on the behalf of the buyers. It’s part of the closing costs.
It’s just a different way of thinking about and disclosing the commission fee. But in the end, it is going to be very similar to the way we did business before.
